SEO and Usability Consulting & Training
I'm able to increase almost any entity's natural search ranking
and convert more visitors into purchasers. Current clients range from multinational and national to boutique and mom-&-pop outfits. I deliver excellent, measurable results and increased sales. I also
blog about SEO.
FrogNet
My 10 years with FrogNet were formidable to say the least. My department oversaw all external communication and much of the internal documentation. My and others' efforts to wiki-ize the corporate intranet were rewarded with increased staff participation and knowledge-sharing.
Eden Marketing
I formed Eden with my partner in 2001 and then promptly handed him the reins in 2002 when my 'real' job required more of my time. I'm happy to be riding part-time in the Eden boat again, helping with UX,
SEO and research, as needed.
Japan Gallery
This was my first foray (with training wheels) into the world of
AJAX to dynamically load external content into a page without the kludge of reloading and re-rendering content. I've since used it to add to the user experience for a couple clients. (2005)
Bud Dry
More idiocy than not, it's buddry.com. My cohort and I write, produce, film and star in these anti-jokes. View the page source to witness behind-the-scenes email trickery preventing spam-harvesting bots from exploiting email addresses. It works and it's transparent to the end-user. (2005)
Fur Peace Ranch
In 1997, I managed the development of an online store for Jorma Kaukonen (Jefferson Airplane,) and company. I worked with them on and off for a decade. Their online music lessons bring rock stars into your living room.
Ned Beatty Interview
Ned's here because he's a big name. The article is short and entertaining. This interview was a challenge to edit. My source material was considerable while allowed column-inches weren't. Relish the soul baring as I delve into the psyche of the world's greatest character actor. (2001)
Cactus Pears
We wanted a bleeding-edge band web presence. I accomplished this with an interesting (but only moderately usable!) navigational aesthetic. Though this page is still fun, it's showing its age. (2001)
Cabo Action
Creating a quick page about my travels accomplishes several things. Vacation memories are preserved, tourism advertising revenue falls into my AdSense account and I'm able to write off many vacation expenses. I receive many "thank you!" emails from this site's readers. (2006)
NNFA Coverage
This National Nutritional Foods Association exposé is one of my favorite freelance pieces. The style (inspired by Hunter S. Thompson,) makes the audience forget they're actually learning something. (2001)
The Dirty Rag
I like editing. The Dirty Rag was an exercise in open source media long before the term existed. Contributors ranged from US Presidential Advisors to UFO 'experts' and everywhere in-between. Massaging some of the naked content into near-publishable prose was a challenge. (2001)
Maya Lin
I needed an excuse to practice a tight, concise CSS layout. Maya Lin provided the inspiration. I made it pink. (2006)
Personal Portal
Do you want a browser start page to display useful links? I did. Other people found it useful too. I monetized it and added others' links too. ...Then the web changed. I still use mine, but the other iterations fell by the wayside with the advent of social media. (2002)
Free Tempur-pedic®
Reasonably clever ideas are fleeting, and maybe that's a good thing. For better or worse, amongst more marketable feats, I put lots of goofball content online. My old pages often rank well in Google for keywords from 'NNFA' to 'Ned Beatty interview.' (2004)
Tub and Pot Club
This page highlights little, but it contains my now-ancient first Flash creation.
Though it pains me to read some of my old copy, this site is an often-humorous archive. (1998-2000)
Vellumn
A simple site. Its size on the page belies its, um, I got nothing. The (borrowed) javascript trick upon loading the page is the only gloss on this minimalist extravaganza. (2003)
